This edition is quite unusual and rare in the sense that the binding is very uncommon. The title page shows several publishers (Redway, Field & Tuer, Simpking, and Hamilton) yet the imprint on the spine shows Watkins, as attributed to the very well known publisher John Watkins. The assumption is that the text block was produced for a variety of publishers (Watkings being one of them) and bound as such. Hence, this is one of John Watkins earliest ever produced publications, as his earliest publications are generally attributed to 1893 thereafter. If you are a collector of Watkins editions this would be of upmost interest.

“The revised third edition, of this collection of lectures delivered by Kingsford in London before a private audience in May, June and July of 1881. This edition with a number of changes including a new preface dated 1886. Anna Bonus Kingsford (1846 – 1888), was one of the first women to work as a physician in England, and a passionate feminist, vegetarian, and anti-vivisectionist. She espoused her own form of Christian mysticism and esotericism, drawn from insights that she claimed to have received both in trance and through dreams. “The Perfect Way” was written with her collaborator and biographer, Edward Maitland.”
