Gilbert; Waite was so inspired by the quotes of Eliphas Levy which he had read in Blavatskys Isis Unveleived that he proceeded to acquire a copy of Levis major work Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie and began work on an English translation. Levi found that an Anthology of these translations would be a more fitting release. Waite than began work with publisher George Redway on what would eventually become The Mysteries of Magic this 1974 reprint also includes a new forward by Leslie Shepard.
