The book was first published as a small, thin quarto in 1890, Westcott then revised and expanded it considerably, and published a second edition as the ninth volume of the “Collectanea Hermetica” series of which he was the editor, in 1902. W. Wynn Westcott (1848 1925) was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). While this is a stated “third edition” it is actually a reprint of the third edition, which was first published in 1911.”

Condition: Publishers blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine and upper board, boards with slight shelfware, corners bumped, dust jacket is unclipped with some staining throughout now protected in mylar, pages clean, overall in Very Good condition
