A beautifully bound oversized folio edition of Miltons Paradise Lost illustrated by Gustave Dor. This landmark illustrated edition of Paradise Lost was first published in 1866 by Cassell in London. The edition was edited by Robert Vaughan, who also provided notes and a biography of Milton.
Dors illustrations became iconic and the book was reprinted in various editions throughout the 19th century. However these early oversized folio editions, measuring over 15 inches tall, are the most impressive.
