The sovereigns struck from 1914 to 1918 enable the collector to create a powerful connection with those who served Australia with such distinction in the war to end all wars. Struck at the Sydney Mint in the year Australian troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli, we are delighted to present the 1915S Gold Sovereign.
Uniting Benedetto Pistruccis iconic St George & the Dragon reverse with the distinguished portrait of King George V by Bertram Mackennal, all WWI sovereigns are scarce today. This is in part due to the low mintages, and the number melted for the gold in the century since struck as well as those dispatched overseas to pay off Australias massive war debt. The difficulty in tracking down WWI dates is also attributable to the fact that these coins are inextricably linked with Australias Baptism of Fire.
Offered in premium grade Extremely Fine to Uncirculated condition, each 1915S Gold Sovereign is beautifully presented within a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity. Click add to cart now!
