Struck at the Melbourne Mint in the year Australian troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli, the 1915M Gold Sovereign enables the collector to create a powerful connection with those who served Australia in the war to end all wars.
Distinguished by Benedetto Pistruccis exquisite St George & the Dragon motif, united with Bertram Mackennals portrait of King George V, all WWI sovereign dates are scarce today. This is in part attributable to the generally low mintages, and the number melted for the gold in the century since struck as well as those dispatched overseas to satisfy international debt after WWI. The scarcity of WWI dates is also due to the fact that these coins are genuine artefacts of Australias Baptism of Fire.
A wonderful opportunity to secure some premium grade WWI gold, the 1915M Gold Sovereign is offered in Uncirculated condition, with each coin set in a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity. Click add to cart now!
