Ethan Allen Hitchcock was one of the first Western thinkers to explore the abstract realm of archetypal symbolism. Her realized that fairy tales and folklore often had secret meanings and that they stimulated the thoughtful mind to explore the mysterious world of the subconscious. In this work originally published in 1866, the author explores allegorical talesof the Middle Ages, hermetic stories, and remarks upon The Arabian Nights’ entertainment along with a thorough explanation of their mysteries.
