This is in part due to the low mintages, and the number melted for the gold in the century since struck as well as those dispatched overseas to pay off Australias massive war debt. The difficulty in tracking down WWI dates is also attributable to the fact that these coins are inextricably linked with Australias Baptism of Fire.
